Great experience at Via Del Mar. Our waitress Carmen was very attentive and quick. She made sure our drinks were always full and checked on us often, even while taking care of many other tables. The restaurant was very nice and clean, and the food was really good. Excellent service overall! Will definitely be coming back and hoping to get Carmen again.
The restaurant is beautiful. The color scheme is great and matches well. The seating areas look nice too. We went in with a party of three. When we arrived, it was just us and one other table. We were told we could sit wherever we liked. We had a toddler with us and were told we would be getting a high chair, but it was never brought out. Even though the server came to take our order, we still hadn’t received it. I had to get up and get the high chair myself. We ordered several things off the menu: Aguas de limonada – They are not the real deal. It was just fruit pulp mixed with lemonade and didn’t have enough ice. We asked for ice, but it took a while to receive it. Caldo de pescado – It was very flavorful and delicious. Charola – It came with shrimp cocktail (very flavorful), fried fish (good, but no tartar sauce), fried shrimp (not as flavorful), octopus rice (it was my first time having it and I loved it!), onion rings, and fries. Toward the end, the cook came out and asked if we needed anything else. The place is clean and very well decorated—it definitely sets the scene—but the service could be better.
